THERMO PROTECTIVE GARMENT
The Thermo Protective Garment (TPG) is a quick-donning, lightweight, wrap around garment, constructed of a thin, felt-like, fireproof fabric wetted with Arctic Fire liquid. Sealed in a quick opening pouch, the TPG can be conveniently stored in a desk drawer or carried in a briefcase.
The TPG provides a truly remarkable level of protection from heat and flame, increasing the probability of escape from a conflagration/high heat event.
Features:
· Quick opening flexible pouch
· Pouch size: 17 x 13 x 2.5 inches
· Weight: 3.5 pounds
· TPG Size: 60 x 72 inches
Testing of the TPG was conducted by the Protective Clothing and Equipment Research Facility of the University of Alberta - Canada.
Testing (ASTM F1930-00) involved dressing a life size thermal test mannequin in standard clothing (cotton dress shirt & slacks) covered by the TPG. The human form was then exposed to a 1500F flash of fire. Test sensors indicated that the human form, in all areas of the body covered by the TPG, had been protected from the intense heat and flame.
Additional testing (ASTM D4108-87) to determine Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) was also conducted. This test measures the amount of thermal protection a fabric would provide a wearer in the event of a flash fire. The TPP is defined as the energy required to cause the onset of a second degree burn to human tissue when a person is wearing the fabric. The higher the TPP, the more protective the fabric.
Test results of fire resistant fabrics such as Nomex III, Kevlar, Proban, and Vulcan, tested dry at fabric thickness of 0.48mm to 0.81mm, have indicated TPP values all below 10 (ten).
NFPA Standard 1971 specifies that firefighter turn-out gear, complete with a heavy liner, shall demonstrate a minimal TPP value of 35.
· The Thermo Protective Garment (TPG) has demonstrated TPP values as high as 52.5!
· The TPG also exceeds flame retardant U.S. Fed Standard CS191-53. Also exceeds NFPA 2112.
· The TPG can also be used as a standard fire blanket to smother Class A & B fires.
· The TPG can be used as a barrier shield to block doorways and openings from encroaching heat and flame. Demonstrates superior performance when compared to standard fire blankets, as the TPG will not burn!
· Due to its flexibility, design and the rapid extinguishing and cooling properties of the Arctic Fire liquid, the TPG is most desirable for use in human torch fires.
· Tested protection in a pouch at an affordable cost!
